I am pleased to introduce Ikaika Regidor, a welcome addition to the staff here at Papa Ola Lōkahi.
Ikaika Regidor (ʻoia/they/he) was born and raised in Kaimukī, Oʻahu. Upon graduating from Kalani High School, Ikaika pursued an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education, and a master's degree in social work at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
Prior to joining Hale Hoʻonaʻauao at Papa Ola Lōkahi, Ikaika was the Senior Program Director at the Nuʻuanu YMCA, overseeing the branch's youth and social impact programs. They previously spent time in New York City, at GLSEN, a national LGBTQ education nonprofit, leading a team to support educators and students in creating LGBTQ-inclusive education environments for all.
Ikaika is passionate about creating safe spaces for other māhū to live and thrive, both across the pae ʻāina and on Turtle Island. In this role at Papa Ola Lōkahi, Ikaika will be able to put their passions to work around LGBTQ+ health and wellness, sexual and reproductive health, and tobacco cessation.
When Ikaika is not working, they can be found teaching yoga and continuing their cultural studies in hula, oli, and ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi with Hālau Unuokeahi.
